After a week off for spring break, the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) is back in session today with a wide-ranging agenda. Public Affairs Director Wayne Larson shared that the meeting will open with two significant proclamations:

  • National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week: Honoring the vital work of 911 operators across the community.
  • Water Conservation Month: Designating April as a time to focus on conservation efforts and tips.

Infrastructure and Environment

The meeting will feature a major Utilities Infrastructure Update from the St. Johns County Utilities Department. Officials will discuss ongoing and planned capital improvement projects designed to maintain water and wastewater services for the county’s rapidly growing population. Additionally, the board will address the current Northeast Florida drought and the appointment of seven members to a new Agriculture Advisory Committee. This committee is tasked with advising staff and the board on critical issues facing the local agricultural community.

Budget and Safety Improvements

On the consent agenda, commissioners are set to review a $41,000 change order for the utility booster pump station and ground storage project in Silverleaf. Engineers have requested additional underground testing and a redesign of a water line crossing to avoid construction delays and potential safety issues at the tank project.

The meeting is open to the public at the County Auditorium on San Sebastian View and is broadcast live on Facebook and YouTube.
