FLAGLER COUNTY — A representative from the Florida School Board Insurance Trust met with the Flagler County School Board Thursday to discuss expanding health insurance coverage under the Trust.
While the proposed changes could lead to savings at the district level, concerns were raised over how they’d impact employees.
District 3 board member Janie Ruddy voiced worry over teachers’ growing premium costs, calling them “extremely high.”
Chairman Will Furry echoed the concerns, stating that the board’s priority is to lower or at least stabilize monthly premiums for staff.
Board members and the Trust agreed to create a model to evaluate the changes and plan to vote on it in the coming weeks.
