Second Annual DJs for PJs Community Pajama Drive!

DJs for PJs is an annual event designed to collect new pajamas for children in need. It was started in Las Vegas in 2003 and in 12 years the non-profit event collected more than 100,000 pairs of brand-new pajamas for local agencies to distribute to children in distress. The program is now here in Florida and will serve local children in need.

How was DJs for PJs started?

Darcy Neighbors, got the idea for DJs for PJs when she was a member of the Leadership Las Vegas Class of 2003. She worked at Child Haven, a local shelter for abused and neglected kids, in a classroom of two-to-four-year-olds. The director of Child Haven confided that many kids come to the shelter with absolutely nothing, and that finding them clean and wearable pajamas was an ongoing challenge. DJs for PJs is a result of that conversation. Lee Filipe knows Darcy from Leadership Las Vegas, now living in Palm Coast she asked Darcy for permission to bring the program to Florida to serve the children at risk in Flagler County and beyond.

What happens on Saturday, October 23, 2021 the DJs for PJs event day?

From 9:00 in the morning until 6:00 at night, residents, businesses and groups are encouraged to drop off new pajamas at the VFW in Palm Coast. Local DJs from Flagler Broadcasting will be at the collection site, dressed in pajamas and on the air live. VIPs and elected officials will stop by , to lend their support and encourage participation. Individuals and corporations bring donations of new pajamas to the collection site. DJs for PJs volunteers will be working to size, sort and package the pajamas for delivery to the benefiting organization.

Who benefits from donations received and pajamas collected?

The recipient is Guardian ad Litem, serving 1500 children in foster care in the Flagler, Volusia, Putnam, and St. Johns counties.

Fostering Connections St. Johns, is the 501c3 nonprofit arm of the Circuit 7 Guardian ad Litem program. They will be acting as the fiduciary agent so any monetary donations that are received before, during and after the DJs for PJs® event will go directly to their local headquarters. Guardian ad Litem volunteers will be at the event to take what they need to the children they personally serve.

Are cash donations accepted instead of pajamas?
